Tobermory seems to show best after long ageing. Something almost feral and undomesticated is suggested on the nose here - sulphur too, but to an agreeable extent. Hessian sack, pickled ginger, struck match... Somehow Tobermory gets away with it. This one develops with walnuts, brownies and whiffs of the coast. The quirkier notes dissipate leaving you with unexpectedly clean, nutty sherry input. Deliciously chewy malt, well balanced uncut with a restrained prickle. Abounds with choc fudge, walnut slice and hazelnut as well as hints of coffee cake and bitter peel accented on the finish. So much character setting this apart from the island pack, it's hard not to be captivated. Don't procrastinate. These rare and wonderfully idiosyncratic bottlings don't come around often. 436 bottles from a sherry butt. 52% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Very limited stocks.

Notes from Claxtons... Nose: Sweet ash and gun oil & smoke. Bitter orange. Palate: Rich spices with oak and a bit more gun oil. Dunnage warehouse notes. Finish: Long and slightly dry. Long aftertaste with oak and spice.
