1995 Chapoutier Les Meysonniers Rouge Croze Hermitage

Chapoutier's Crozes Hermitage is a very impressive wine. Produced entirely from Shiraz vines with an age between 40 and 60 years old (call that an Old Vine Shiraz?)Opaque crimson colour with mauve edges. The nose is very intense, with uplifted spicy blackberry, raspberry and violet aromas. The palate is full bodied with flavours of blackberries dominating, yet enhanced by dark cherry flavour, chocolate and liquorice. Fine tannin structure, excellent balance and long cherry plum and spice aftertaste. Cellar 5 - 8 years.
