1994 Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth Cabernets

A magnificent wine from Parker Estate, that needs at least a decade to come together, and if you should choose to drink this youngster earlier, then we suggest at least a couple of hours breathing or a good decant. Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Merlot is dominant but will integrate - even after an hour it merges into the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and becomes a team player - and contributes superbly to the over all aroma and flavour profile of the wine.Deep brick red colour. The nose leaps out of the glass with the initial dominance of the earthy truffle aromas of the Merlot - and later spicy plums, cedar and smoky oak aromas take over with plum/blackcurrant fruit aromas ever present. The palate displays all the latent complexity of the nose. This is a very sophisticated wine, with a profoundly long aftertaste. Fine grained tannins and perfect balance. This is indeed a worthy candidate for the serious wine drinkers cellar.
