Crimson red colour with brick red hue – excellent colour for a 14 year old wine. The nose is a little subdued to begin with but once the wine is warmed up a little reveals perfumed aromas of violets, cedar, leather and earth with a touch of farmyard character in the background. The palate is holding up exceptionally well and whilst it has shed some of its fat, displays exceptional richness. Flavours of ripe blackberries, cedar and leather with liquorice and pepper characters in the background. The tannins have melted away over the years resulting in a voluptuous supple velvet like texture. Fantastic length & power. There is still plenty of life left in this wine (although it’s drinking superbly now).
Drink now or cellar 1-2 years.
Alc 13.9%
