1988 Fonseca Porto Guimaraens Vintage Port

In years when Fonseca does not ‘declare’ a classic vintage, it selects the finest grapes from its own vineyards to produce a small quantity of this wine, which is made exactly as a declared Fonseca Vintage.

Opaque dark red colour with deep brick red hue. Lifted nose with aromas of marzipan, liquorice allsorts, raisins and spice with beautifully integrated spirit. The palate is evolving very slowly and is still looking quite youthful with flavours of liquorice, aniseed and spice followed by fine old brandy spirit showing some heat on the finish. Velvet smooth tannins with very long aftertaste of spicy brandy spirit, liquorice and raisin. Bottled in 1990.
