Milroy's of Soho Laphroaig 12 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

From the famous whisky house that the famous Jack and Wallace Millroy built in Greek St Soho, London, comes this private bottling of Laphroaig. This isn't a medicinal Laphroaig, but a very clean example limited to 337 bottles. Matured in ex-Bourbon hogsheads.

Tasting note: Juicy toffee apple and peppermint combine on the nose over some deeper, drier, earthy and faintly herbal undertones. That familiar Islay lanolin note and a trace of iodine follows. A rather understated palate entry slowly unfolds into a fuller, spicier experience than one might have anticipated from the nose. Sweet vanilla smoke flavours merge with mango and citrus oils, then gently fade away. The relatively abrupt finish lets this whisky down. Perhaps not what most Laphroaig lovers would expect from this distillery, but its unusual release age alone might harness the attention of die-hard fans. 46% Alc./Vol.
