Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Highlands, SCOTLAND
$84. 99
Bottle
$1019.88 Dozen
ABV: 46%
Tasting note: Made from a combination of malts from Loch Lomond's traditional swan-neck pot still and unique straight-neck pot still, this peated expression was matured in re-charred American oak and refill Bourbon casks. The distillery's self described 'soft-smoke-style' still offers a decent hit - on the nose, chilie peppers, chimney soot and lanolin gradually give way to baked orchard fruits. Medium-peat on the palate, with just enough juicy fruit to balance. Creamy, oily and nicely rounded. The aftertaste is moderate, mildly ashy with vanilla, pepper and smoked chocolate. For anyone looking to get acquainted with smoked styles, start here. 46% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... The vibrancy of the peat offers a bit of a beast.

Notes from the producers... Nose: Mint leaf, burnt wood, a hint of medicinal peat. Palate: Spicy as it opens, with plenty of black pepper and cinnamon with sweet ashy peat. Soon enough, layers of toffee develop to balance it out. Finish: Fruitier notes arrive on the finish. 46% Alc./Vol.
