Hobart Whisky Third Release Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Number three in Hobart's early bottlings sees a whisky matured in a marriage of "small x-lightly smoked American whiskey casks" from Hillrock Distillery in Kentucky, USA. Weighing in at higher than average strength and bottled on the 8th February 2019, it completes a trifecta of fabulous small batch releases that should be on every collector's radar.

Tasting note: Bright gold. Following batches 1 and 2, the quality of the spirit is clear: Pure and expressive aromas suggesting Monte Carlo biscuits, sponge cake, boiled lollies (Castlemaine rock?) and trace peppermint becoming bou-rye like after ample air contact. Manages impressive concentration with minimal prickle; flavours of choc ripple biscuits and toasted marshmallow are rounded off by vibrant pepper, oak shavings and trace peppermint through the final stages. Not super long, but the salivating texture and balance at high strength makes for utterly seductive drinking. 50.3% Alc./Vol. 328 bottles.
