Hobart Whisky Sherry / Bourbon Cask Marriage Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Tasting note: Aiming to balance the malt with various sherry casks complimented by the sweeter notes of Bourbon barrels, this harks back to Hobart's earliest batches: oak isn't dominating allowing the purity of the distillate shine through. The sherry input is fairly discreet, the bourbon contributes a measured dose of vanillas. It's concentrated yet buttery, with barley sugar, caramel nib and dark chocolate carrying the mildly peppery finish. A faint suggestion of peat adds complexity. 49.3% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the producers... On the nose, raspberry bush with a gentle smokiness and hints of cranberry, brandy snaps, and fruit mince pies. Followed by Christmas pudding, toffee apples, leather, and subtle honeycomb. The palate has rich sherry with light smoke, fruitcake and strawberry jam on buttered toast. Toasted nuts, cherries, turkish delight, salted caramel macarons, and biscuit crumb. Trifle with vanilla bean custard and red jelly. A medium length finish with balanced warmth, hints of roasted coffee, and smokey dark chocolate.
