Hellyers Road Distillery Slightly Peated 15 Year Old Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)

Hellyers peated variants are among the peatiest tasting (and most successful) Aussie whiskies on the market. The 10 year old predecessor to this 15 year old was proclaimed Champion Australian whisky at the 2018 ADSA awards and Best Australian Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards 2019.

Tasting note: Deep gold in colour, the slightly peated 15 delivers an amazing nose by any measure. Peat is eclipsed by exotic aromas of of passion fruit and nectarine with a touch of grassiness. On the palate, crisp barley is followed by the same exotic fruits; in fact there's a shade of pavlova to this. No overt peat (perhaps a little earthiness(?), but what a superb and uniquely Australian effort. Easily one of Hellyer's best whiskies to date. 46.2% Alc/Vol.

Notes from the producer... The lingering wafts of a fading campfire are subtle on the nose as citrus notes and ripe peach present on the palate. A creamy, lingering finish capped with tinges of vanilla completes a most rewarding single malt experience.
