Declared 'Bourbon of the Year'
by Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible 2010.

Buffalo Trace distillery have again released their annual “Antique Collection” of world class Bourbon & Rye Whiskies. At this stage we have a miniscule quantity of the Fall 2010 George T.Stagg bottling on offer.

If you love Bourbon but have been procrastinating about tasting the Antique Collection, this years Stagg release should be a 'now or never' call: Highly regarded U.S. spirits writer, F.Paul Pacault, (www.spiritsjournal.com) comments, "This is my favourite Stagg to date. The Highest Recommendation", while noted whisky writer, Jim Murray has awarded the 2010 Stagg "Bourbon of the Year" in his 2010 Whisky Bible. Harlan Wheatley, the visionary Master Distiller at Buffalo Trace has clearly hit the jackpot. Can he maintain the momentum? Given the small batch nature of these spirits, there are no guarantees the quality on offer will ever be repeated. Unquestionably, the 2010 bottling will go down as one of the all-time greats. As usual, stocks are ridiculously limited.

For the tech-spec geeks: The 2010 Stagg was double distilled in the Winter of 1993 from Kentucky Corn, Minnesota Rye and North Dakota Malted Barley. 142 barrels were bottled without filtration after seventeen years and seven months maturation. Nearly 50% of the original spirit was lost to evaporation. The result is yet another stupendous Stagg expression defined by dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavours. 71.5% Alc./Vol.
