George Remus Repeal Reserve Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)

Lawrenceburg, Indiana, UNITED STATES
$165. 00
Bottle
$1980.00 Dozen
ABV: 47%
This is the first of three straight blended bourbons to be released by Indiana's MGP to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition. Named for the "king of bootleggers" and launched in 2017, the bourbon was made from three mash bills. 50% from a 21% rye mash bill, 15% from a 36% mash bill and 35% from a 21% rye mash bill.

Tasting note: [Series 1] Copper topaz. The aroma offers greater oily depths than the standard Remus, drier and more mature too, with leather, oak shavings, vanilla wafer biscuits and hints of pipe tobacco. Tasting like an older bourbon that's better integrated, leading with delicious, buttery flavours of pecan pie, sponge cake and light vanilla followed by a spicy, peppermint accented finish, rounding out the whisky in elegant fashion. 47% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Starting with floral, fruit, and perfume notes, its prominent bouquet barely allows the undertones of honeysuckle, spice, and oak to shine through. On the palate, honey, canned peaches, tobacco, and crème brûlée lead the way just before an explosion of vanilla layers the palate in the form of cake batter, icing, and a white fudge-dipped Oreo. However, bitterness sets in, causing a slight unbalance and lingers toward the medium finish.
