Elements of Islay Cl2 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (500ml)

This release represents part of the latest installment of whiskies produced by Specialty Drinks to celebrate Islay.

This CI2 bottling comes from the Caol Ila distillery, owned and operated by drinks giant Diageo on the western coast of Islay. The island's largest distillery, Caol Ila is renowned for being one of the more approachable malts of Islay, typically medium bodied and produced using lower peating levels than Ardbeg or Laphroaig.

Tasting note: 'Fisherman's Friend' are an international brand of throat lozenge renowned for their pungency (over 6,000,000,000 are eaten each year!) Their flavour is occasionally found in certain Islay malts. This is one. Pale straw colour. Initial passings offer semi sweet scents of brine and lanolin over choc fudge and Fisherman's Friend. Concentrated and spicy, the palate delivers flavours of cocoa and vanillan malt with a soft under blanket of Fisherman's Friend. Remarkably delicate given the high ABV, in fact there's a lovely freshness and lightness to this expression. Concludes clean with the lozenge characteristics continuing into the aftertaste. 50.5% Alc./Vol.
