Highlands, SCOTLAND
$125. 00
Bottle
$1500.00 Dozen
ABV: 46%

Malt whisky lovers should keep an eye out for the new offerings being released by the reputable Cadenhead firm under their 'Duthies' label. Mr Duthie was the nephew of William Cadenhead and ran William Cadenhead Ltd from 1904 until his untimely death in 1931. He was also the person most responsible for building the reputation of Cadenhead's as a bottler of single malts and rum. The Duthies 'Copper Still' collection presently includes independent bottlings of Auchentoshan 19 YO, Caol Ila 13 YO, Cragganmore 15 YO, Glen Grant 13 YO (Sherry wood matured), Glen Scotia 17 YO and Mortlach 16 YO (also exclusively matured in Sherry wood). All the whiskies have been non chill filtered with no colouring added.

Tasting note: Pale straw colour with pale, water-like hue. The nose offers aromas of lightly toasted grains above banana and mango followed by a touch of brine and sweet smoke - all beautifully integrated. The palate begins soft and plush with the gently peated malt emerging with a salty tang. Excellent length, with a creamy aftertaste of sticky date pudding and liquorice strap. First impressions of this whisky were of an opulent Clynelish compared with the current 14YO distillery bottling. Unfortunately, and somewhat mysteriously, on returning to an open bottle of this whisky several months later, a sulphury characteristic had developed to an unpleasant degree. 46% Alc.Vol.
