Combier L'Original Triple Sec Liqueur (700ml)

Saumur, Loire Valley, FRANCE
$69.99 Bottle
  • ABV 40%

While not as well known as it's rival, Cointreau, Combier holds the place as the world's first clear orange liqueur, first created in 1834. It is made from sun dried orange peels steeped in alcohol and triple distilled in copper pot stills.

Tasting note: Pours crystal clear, bright and glycerous. The aroma is of freshly peeled oranges - oily, pithy and more peel than pulp, exhibiting superb freshness and purity. Entry is glycerous and creamy leading into a plush, exceptionally concentrated palate that delivers an explosion of ripe orange with the sweetness tempered by gentle spices throughout. Outstanding length and balance. Concludes slowly, with more pith and peel entering. Aftertaste is fresh and dry, as the spices gradually subside with the candied orange and peel playing out at length. Different to the more familiar Cointreau (which is the benchmark in this genre), but equally brilliant. 40% Alc./Vol.
