Originally established in 1856 in Paris, Kentucky, Chicken Cock is one of the oldest brands in Bourbon history. The original whiskey rose in popularity during the 19th century and was infamously a staple of Prohibition-era speakeasies, where it would be smuggled inside in nondescript tin cans. The label disappeared from the market in the 1950s after the original distillery burned down, but was resurrected in 2013 as a "sourced whiskey". The new Chicken Cock is based on a 'non-standard' mash bill from MGP in Indiana of 70% Corn, 21% Rye and 9% Malted Barley. Thirty barrels were selected. Most will buy this for the name and the handsome replica pre-prohibition bottle, however the whiskey itself has received favourable reviews.

Bright amber color. Aromas and flavors of cherry syrup, cola and coconut, vanilla frosting, and polished fine furniture with a velvety, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a warming, interesting, crisp cherry pop tart and blueberry candy, fresh herbs, orange flower water, and toffee and aniseed finish. Cherries reign is this delightful dram.
