Yeringberg's Latest Offering

The de Pury family have been farming in the Yarra Valley since 1863. Once a famed vineyard in the 19th century, the demise of fine table wines saw production cease in 1921. Guill & Katherine de Pury decided to replant the vineyard in 1969, gradually starting to rebuild the reputation of this historic estate. Today it is helmed by Sandra de Pury, becoming the fourth-generation winemaker at Yeringberg, with her brother David who manages the vineyard. Produced from some of the oldest vines in the Yarra Valley, the low-yielding vines result in wines of great age-ability and finesse.

The 2020 vintage in the Yarra Valley saw mild temperatures across the growing season, with slow ripening after a late bud burst. On top of some of the challenges thrown by Mother Nature, COVID-19 added disruptions to Yeringberg's staffing, with their vintage crew working overtime to make up for the smaller numbers. Despite all these challenges, including extremely low yields, 2020 was a success in terms of quality, with very high standards achieved across the range. A notable exception to the above was their 2020 Shiraz: quality standards weren't met and as a result none went to bottle for release. To complete our offer, Yeringberg has made available a museum release of their 2015 Shiraz, which is now entering its best drinking window and expressing its full potential.
