Wantirna Estate: A Rare Slice of Old-Vine Melbourne

Wantirna Estate is one of Australia's rare treasures. Planted by Reg and Bertina Egan in 1963 on an east-facing slope in Melbourne's southeastern fringe, the vineyard has remained remarkably small as the city has grown around it. Today it is tended by their daughter, Maryann, with Reg still very much a presence, and the wines continue to be shaped by the same hands-on approach that has guided the estate from the beginning. Each cuvée carries the name of one of Reg's grandchildren, its label brought to life by artist Michael Leunig, giving the range a distinctly personal thread that matches the family's long stewardship of the site.
