2022 Standish - The Perfect Vintage

The Standish wines are produced by former Torbreck winemaker Dan Standish, who started his own winemaking label in 1999 whilst still working for the iconic Barossa winery. He has since gone on establishing a global reputation for his rich, succulent and satiny-textured Shiraz through its four different "incarnations". Regarding winemaking, all Standish wines are handpicked, wild fermented then matured in a mix of French oak and concrete egg for at least 18 months, with a different degree of whole-bunch component based on the vintage and specific cuvee.

Following on from the stellar 2021 vintage, 2022 looks to have upped the ante even further. In Erin Larkin's interview with Dan Standish, he describes 2022 as the "perfect vintage: wet winter, wet spring, followed by a hot but not crazy-hot summer. It was almost the perfect ripening season." Blessed with a long, slow season where there was little pressure from disease or weather events, 2022 has allowed Dan to craft wines that perfectly reflect each site he works with.
