Our second indie Cragganmore in decades! This distillery is renowned for complexity, said to be due to the combination of traditional worm tubs, flat topped stills and short fermentation times. Cadenhead's bottling gets you closer to the source - natural strength and from less than a handful of casks (the total outturn was 492 bottles). Distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2015. Cadenhead's tasting notes are intriguing: "Aromas of dried apple, white chocolate and hints of aniseed. The palate is quite herbal; some sage and lemon thyme with hints of spices. Finishes with lingering white chocolate; quite floral and then some mandarin."

* For those puzzled by the 'Cragganmore-Glenlivet' title on the label, history suggests the use of the 'Glenlivet' suffix was a convention in earlier times as means of association with Speyside and / or the Glenlivet distillery's enviable reputation. Tamnavulin, Glen Moray, Speyburn and Tomintoul all still carry "-Glenlivet" in their registered names. However, the suffix is now only used on the labels of some independent bottlers. Why persist with this terminology? Mark Watt at Cadenheads simply says, "Using the original name of the distillery is something that we have always historically done".
