For innovation, Bruichladdich are on par with the world’s most creative boutique wine producers and top the likes of Ardbeg in sales figures (the latter corporate owned with a five-digit marketing machine running at full throttle). Generally known for being unpeated, since c.2007, the distillery diverged into more traditional Islay territory with several releases, including their ridiculously peaty 'Octomore' - the industry precursor to Ardbeg Supernova.

Wholly matured in American oak, it takes its name from a farm two miles away from the distillery and comes packaged in something akin to a gothic bowling pin from the year 2060. The visual charisma conveys what's inside - think of this as the whisky equivalent of Pink Floyd when Syd Barret still mattered - whimsical, progressive and 'out there’: Islay in interstellar overdrive.
