Sold out in the UK, the final instalment in the Dialogos series sees the whisky's standard maturation time doubled. At this age, Octomore becomes dangerously sessionable.

Unleashed for the third time in history, with a different maturation than its decade old predecessors (more 10 years olds are on their way at the time of writing), Octomore 10 demonstrates the playfulness of Bruichladdich's warehouse master with a whimsical selection of casks matured entirely on Islay. Port, Cognac, ex-American whiskey and Virgin Oak feature, rounded out with an additional parcel from three years first fill ex American oak, two years virgin oak as well as whiskies that had spent six years in ex American whiskey casks (12%).

Weighing in at 167ppm, 12,000 bottles are available worldwide as part of the 'Dialogos' series. Bruichladdich wants to start a dialogue about terroir, wood influence and barley in an effort to encourage transparency: every tiny detail about these whiskies is made available on their website. Final stocks.

Other reviews... Distilled from malt peated to 167 ppm, this whisky’s complex maturation program includes first-fill port and cognac, second-fill American whiskey, and virgin oak casks. The nose is sweet, with ginger, marzipan, rock pools, and floral smokiness. Initially, barley sugar and malt on the palate, then drier, with a hint of iodine, medicated soap, old leather, and dried peat. Peppery, with antiseptic and smoky oak in the finish.
