Bowmore Springtide Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Matured in select Oloroso sherry casks, this the distillery's premium offering for the travel retail market. Cask strength (54.9% Alc./Vol.) and non chill-filtered. Pure Bowmore. Not tasted yet but very good reports from the blogosphere. Older Bowmores from sherry casks have been amongst the most celebrated Islay whiskies of all time. Never intended for retail so stocks are miniscule.

According to the distiller, ?Springtide takes its name from the high tide of spring, when the earth, sin and moon are all aligned.? The majority of the component whiskies in Springtide have been matured in first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks. Maple syrup, figs, sultanas and Christmas spices on the nose, along with sweet smoke, emerging brine and hand-rolling Virginia tobacco. Finally, caramel. The palate is full and rich, with dark berries, sherry, treacle, ozone and wood smoke. Gradually more citric and spicy.
