Black Gate Distillery Single Cask (#BG002) Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Black Gate Distillery was opened by Brian and Genise Hollingworth in Mendooran in January 2012. The couple have travelled throughout NSW, Tasmania, Scotland and Ireland researching and gaining knowledge in the art of distilling high quality spirits and liqueurs. Black Gate Rum and Black Gate Single Malt Whisky are now on offer after maturing in ex sherry casks for two years. The distillery aims at using local grains and fruits for all of its products.

Tasting notes: Amber gold. Yields attractive opening scents of vanilla cream followed by wafer biscuit, caramel and hints of mocha. Later inspection shifts the accent towards milk chocolate. Spicy and warm, but well balanced with honey cough drops, vanilla and cocoa building. Nice weight and persistence undermined by the mildly fiery finale. 50% Alc./Vol.
