Benromach 8 Year Old Hermitage Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$99. 99
Bottle
$1199.88 Dozen
ABV: 40%

An unusual Benromach, extra matured for 22 months in an x-Hermitage (aka Syrah, Shiraz) cask from the Northern Rhone Valley of France (the region which inspired many an Aussie Shiraz). In the words of the distillery, "This mouth warming single malt whisky displays smooth dark chocolate flavours, interspersed with spice, cranberries, coconut and light smoke." 1300 bottles produced. Note: the picture of this product is indicative only.

Tasting note: Bright gold with a striking salmon pink tinge. Aromas are moderate and rather uninspiring; a slight prickle then some delicately smoked cereals, old wood and a hint of sulphur. The palate is bittersweet, tannic and a little grippy; A spicy warmth and a gentle spirit tingle accompany straightforward cereal flavours before finishing spicy, very dry and a little short. The wood finish fails to do much for this whisky. 40%Alc./Vol.
