Benriach Septendecim 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$150. 00
Bottle
$1800.00 Dozen
ABV: 46%

Septendecim is the latest edition to the BenRiach Peated range. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it continues BenRiach’s list of Latin labels such as 'Authenticus', 'Curiositas' and 'Heredotus Fumosus'. If you have enjoyed the 10 year old Curiositas you will love this older brother at 17 years of age which delivers a more robust, complex and 'adult' expression. Non chill filtered and bottled with natural colour.

Tasting note: Clear and bright / pale straw gold. Rich, oily, peat accent to the nose - almost overwhelms the creamy malt. Aeration adds lanolin and muesli bar. Creamy entry leads into a delicious sweet peat, salty, juicy malt burst, concluding fresh, mint chocolate like and long. Excellent length and balance. Great stuff! 46% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Easily one of the most complex of all the new peaty noses of the year...proof, not that it is now needed, that Islay is not alone in producing phenomenal phenols. 93.5 points - Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2013.size>
