Benriach Heredotus Fumosus 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$99. 99
Bottle
$1199.88 Dozen
ABV: 46%
Released in May 2007, BenRiach 'Heredotus Fumosus' is part of a range of three 12 year old heavily peated Benriachs, originally matured in American oak and then finished either in sherry, port or dark rum wood.

In the case of 'Heredotus Fumosus', the whisky has been finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Butts, and the name, which is Latin, literally translates to 'smoky sherry'. This maintains the tradition of giving their peated expressions Latin names, which started with Curiositas (10 years old) and Authenticus (21 years old). Bottled at 46%, at natural colour and non chill filtered. Just 3180 bottles released world-wide.

Tasting note: Deep copper / brass colour. An amazing aroma combines heady scents of vanilla laced peat, dates, Christmas pudding and old liquorice strap with the accent shifting to wool shed and toffee apple, then sump oil and baked citrus in the later stages. Bravo! The palate doesn't fail to impress with its feature sweet peat, choc fudge, toffee apple and lengthy spiced raisin, vanilla-peat fade that leaves you wanting for more. A sensational effort! 46% Alc./Vol.
