Balcones 'Single Barrel Private Selection Program' showcases the nuances of their flagship whisky, the Single Malt. Contrasts from one barrel to the next highlight the way the wood and whisky respond to the Waco climate. Barrel selections will vary in this series. In the past they've included a variety of new & used American, French and Hungarian oak. This one's spent roughly three years in a French Oak cask before being bottled non-chill filtered at 53% Alc./Vol.

[Earlier batch also matured in French Oak] The nose shows glorious maturity, with tropical fruits, blueberry, concord grape jelly, and pineapple soda, all mingled with wood spice, dried chile, and smoked meat. Excellent consistency into the palate, which benefits from water to tame oak tannins; juicy pineapple, guava, papaya, jackfruit, and hibiscus tea brighten up cocoa powder and chile flavors.
