A.D. Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)

UNITED STATES
$169. 00
Bottle
$2028.00 Dozen
ABV: 47.5%
Law's flagship Four Grain is crafted from the four “American mother grains”: corn, wheat, barley, and rye. There aren’t many four grain bourbons on the market simply because they tend to be more labour intensive to make. It involves a stepped cook process (in which individual varietals require different cooking temperatures and times to maximize flavour).

This edition is made from a mash bill of 60% corn, 20% wheat, 10% rye, 10% barley and aged for over three years. Typical of small run bottlings, the ABV and flavour profile may vary from batch to batch.

Tasting note: Sweet openings include scents of fairy floss, honeycomb, butterscotch and flashes of varnish. Second pass finds drier, woody scents - green peppercorns, oak shavings? Medium bodied, semi-sweet attack with a thread of creamy sugars. Concludes drier, oaky (hints of dried mint?), reigned in slightly early. 47.5% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... [Batch 5 tasted] ...a generous cut which ushers in some extra blood orange...

Look for an enticing vanilla scent with a hint of almond extract. The palate opens with vanilla and oak, then dries to dark toffee and espresso, finishing with clove and cardamom. 47.5% Alc./Vol.
