The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language. Established in 1980 by leading South Australian viticulturalists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, the Pertaringa vineyards located in the foothills behind McLaren Vale have consistently produced rich, full flavoured value for money reds.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep bright dark red black hue. Elevated liquorice, blackberry and black cherry scents infused with blackpepper are trailed by smoky vanillin cedar and spicy fennel notes. Rich liquorice, blackberry and black cherry fruits have a tightly knit feel yet also show terrific intensity. Sitting underneath are elements of smoky vanillin cedar and an earthy meatiness finishing with a burst of blackpepper. Robust yet well integrated tannins provide the back palate with a sturdy feel. Excellent power and depth with a long pepper infused aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
