2016 Kilikanoon Mort's Block Watervale Riesling

Brilliant very pale straw almost water like colour with a greenish tinge around the outskirts. Lifted lime and lemon scents are overlaid by some light petroleum characters followed by talc and spice. Zippy lime and citrus flavours race across the palate, its textural profile slowly beginning to fill out. Subtle toasty kerosene like nuances and steely mineral characters fanning out onto the dry finish. Crisp crunchy acidity with an aftertaste of lime and citrus subtlety laced with toasty kerosene elements and steely mineral.
Cellar 6-8 years.

Like all Kilikanoon's Rieslings, no frills to the vinification, just attention to detail. Incongruously, it is a blend of three vineyards. The bouquet owes as much to minerally notes as to citrus fruit, and the palate duly brings structure and length for the lemon/lime flavours and firm finish. Drink by 2031.
