An elegant, flavoursome Cotes Roussillon blend produced from Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright dark red hue. Aromas of spicy dark cherries, scorched earth and dark raspberries emerge from the glass followed by some liquorice and pepper. Light to medium weight flavours of spicy black cherry and scorched earth are to the fore with underlying hints of liquorice and graphite finishing quite peppery. Slightly dryish finish with fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of spicy black cherry, dark raspberry, scorched earth, subtle liquorice and pepper.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Other Reviews….
A terrific value that’s close to an even split of Grenache and Syrah (there’s 10% Carignan), from a mix of terroirs in the Agly Valley, the 2014 Haut Cotes du Roussillon Villages les Vignes de Bila Haut was completely destemmed and spent eight months in a mix of concrete tanks and stainless steel prior to bottling. A fabulous value that will be hard to beat as a mid-week drinker, it offers lots of juicy berry fruit, violets, peppery herbs and damp earth characteristics in a medium-bodied, bright, fresh and elegant package. It’s ideal for drinking over the coming 2-4 years.
