Up until 2003 the Barrot family were relatively unknown producers in Chateauneuf du Pape who sold their wine in bulk to various negociants. It wasn’t until Julian Barrot took over the winemaking responsibilities that the estate began to produce wines under their own label receiving almost instantaneous critical acclaim. The average age of the vines at La Barroche is 60 years old with some of the Grenache plantings being over100 years old.

Opaque dark red black tinged colour with dark red hue. The nose displays loads of black fruit aromas including black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice followed by some incense and spice. Bold and extravagantly rich the palate delivers a sumptuous flavour profile of black raspberry and liquorice followed by some black cherry, a touch of earth and spice. Plushly textured with velvety tannins. Long inviting aftertaste of black raspberry, liquorice, spice and subtle dried meats.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2014-2020).
