2010 was the perfect vintage for Tatiarra right up until the last moment when the vineyard was hit by a freak hail storm. As a result of the smaller crop size the decision was made to declassify the best parcels of fruit down to the Culled Barrel label with the remaining unsuitable parcels sold off in bulk. No Cambrian, Trademark or Caravan of Dreams Shiraz was produced from 2010.

After 6 months in bottle the palate is starting to blossom. Opaque black dark crimson red colour with dark crimson red hue. The nose possesses good lift with aromas of dark plum, liquorice and ripe blackberry with some supporting toasty oak and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate boasts generous almost opulent flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum, toasty vanillin oak and spice. This is a more elegant version of Culled Barrel in comparison to the weightier 2009, yet it still possesses plenty of richness. Velvet smooth tannins. Good length with long ripe blackberry, liquorice, toasty oak and a hint of black pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2016-2017).
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews......
Uninspiring colour turns out to be irrelevant, for the wine has plenty of blackberry, licorice and spice fruit supported by ripe tannins and good oak. Ben Riggs' skills to the fore.
