2010 Signatory Vintage The Un-Chillfiltered Collection Ben Nevis 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A good selection of Ben Nevis are presently available - perhaps more than ever before. Unfortunately, volumes are relatively small, so that situation won't last. It's a distillery that’s garnered a quiet cult following among malt lovers who love its full bodied, oily style that sometimes shows a whisper of peat. Distilled in February 2010 and bottled in April 2020, this young indie release was matured in a single refill butt. Apparently Signatory Vintage owns quite a lot of early 2010s casks, so expect to see more in the near future. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Classified as a coastal distillery in the Western Highlands, Ben Nevis sits at the base of its namesake, Scotland’s highest mountain. The water source is Allt a’Mhuilinn which originates from two pools, Coire Leis and Coire na’Ciste, both sited a good way up the mountain. ‘Long John’ MacDonald founded the distillery in 1825 - the renowned Long John blended Scotch was named after him. After Long John’s death in 1856, ownership was passed down to Donald McDonald, his son. Followers of this distillery will know that present owners, 'Nikka' have been taking much of the single malt supply for their 'Japanese' blends. In the meantime, independent bottlers continue to fill the vacuum.
