Modern history of Chateau Plaisance starts in 1991 when Jean-Louis and Isabelle Chollet began acquiring land to reconstruct the vineyards of the Chateau Plaisance estate, although vines were planted on the estate all the way back in the 1750s, while the Chateau Plaisance itself was built in the 1780s. Located at the edge of the Margaux appellation, the 10 hectare single block is planted with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. The nose opens with black cherry and ripe blackcurrant top notes over some toasty vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Rich and full bodied the palate possesses black cherry and ripe blackcurrant flavours followed by some liquorice with a toasty cedar and spice back palate. Dry finish with solid moderately firm tannins imparting some chalkiness and a hint of bitterness towards the end. Aftertaste of black cherry, ripe blackcurrants, scorched earth, cedar and spice.
