Beautifully proportioned Saint Emilion.

Fombrauge has long been one of the biggest Estates of the Libournais. Its reputation on the other hand, only started to grow with the arrival of Bernard Magrez, owner of Pape Clement. The man does nothing small, and Fombrauge in 2010 certainly reflects this approach . Having started his business selling inexpensive ports and blended whiskies , his ambition has seen him amass the biggest private holdings of grand crus classes in Bordeaux . As is so often the case, the benefits of an owner with deep pockets is tangible in the final wine. This Fombrauge is one to savour. A blend of 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Outstanding colour – impenetrable inky black dark crimson red core with very deep dark crimson red black hue. A superb sniff, aromas blossom out of the glass with perfectly ripened blackcurrant, liquorice and black cherry top notes dominate over some vanillin cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate boasts an abundance of perfectly proportioned ripe blackcurrant cassis like fruit alongside some liquorice which overlays a vanillin cedar, subtle cigar box and spice back drop. Superb tannin integration taking on an almost velvet like appearance. Beautiful fleshy mouthfeel with long blackcurrant, liquorice, toasty vanillin cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years (2020-2022).
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews...
Soft red fruit and fresh coffee. Some chocolate and spice. Beautifully textured fruit on the palate with a bright acidity and velvety tannins. Very long and smooth finish. So enjoyable already. Best ever from here? Better in 2015.
