2010 Chateau Brisson
Consistently one of the top value wines in Bordeaux, Chateau Brisson delivers again in 2010. Situated in Cotes de Castillon to the south of Saint-Emilion, on the continuation of the same limestone rich clay soils, the wine is traditional Right Bank Merlot dominant blend, in this case 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. With prices in Bordeaux sky rocketing, in great years like 2010 these are the wines to load up on.
Superb black dark crimson red colour with a dark crimson red black hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with lifted top notes of black cherries and blackcurrants over a toasty cedar background with dried meats and spice following. Medium to full bodied the palate possesses generous blackcurrant and black cherry flavours followed by toasty cedar, some earth and spice. Firm solidly built tannins impart some chewiness on the finish. Medium to long ripe blackcurrant, toasty cedar, earth and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
