Since it’s first release in 1982 Elderton have established a reputation as one of Barossa’s benchmark producers of Shiraz. This wine is consistently rated one of the region’s best value Shiraz – its rich, ripe voluptuous flavours at a price point that over delivers capturing wine lovers imaginations around the world.

Sourced from a lost parcel located in a hidden corner of the winery, this wine has mellowed and softened beautifully resulting in an exceptional value that delivers great everyday drinking.

The fruit for Elderton Shiraz is sourced mainly from the Elderton Vineyard situated on the banks of the North Para River. There are 12 blocks of Shiraz on the Elderton Estate, some as old as 100 years, which grow in deep alluvial soils over limestone. Combined with a Mediterranean climate and minimal supplemented irrigation, this creates what Elderton describe as ‘the perfect Shiraz vineyard’. The grapes are mainly machine harvested in the cool of the night, at an optimum maturity of about 14 – 15 Baume. This allows a quick delivery to the winery for crushing, before any spoilage can occur.

Matured for 14 months in predominately American oak this delicious Shiraz displays an opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Nosing offers up an intense aromatic profile of liquorice and ripe dark plums over some vanillin oak and confectionary. Medium to full bodied with a soft supplely textured mouthfeel the palate possesses generous flavours of liquorice, dark plums, vanillin confectionary and spice. Velvet smooth tannins with long aftertaste of liquorice, toasty vanillin oak and spice.
