Deep dark crimson red colour with dark crimson red mauve hue showing good depth. The nose is a little closed upon first sniff but slowly unravels to reveal an aromatic profile of dark cherries, cedar, game and spice followed by a touch of earth as an end note. The palate possesses excellent concentration and richness along with a supple texture delivering mouthfilling flavours of dark cherries, spice, dark plum and some gamey meat like qualities followed by a spicy earth like back palate. It has slightly more weight and a darker fruit profile than the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, with both wines possessing a classic expansive Grand Cru Burgundy palate. Excellent power wave with velvet smooth tannins and long very persistent dark cherry, meaty game and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years (2016-2017).
Alc 13.5%
