Here's another one-off gem you don't want to miss.

One of Speyside's rarely found offerings that's known for a distinctive lighter styled malt is here married with a first fill bourbon barrel. Founded in 1971 in the heart of Speyside, south of Elgin in Morayshire, the majority of Mannochmore's output is used in Diageo's finest blends, making single malt releases and in particular single cask releases very obscure. Despite its lack of public exposure the distillery has produced minor cult releases such as the 'Cu Dhub' and the 'Black Whisky'.
Drawn from a single x Bourbon cask, the bottler of this 'Lady of the Glen' edition, Gregor Hannah says to expect aromas and flavours of "Ripened toffee banana, strawberry laces and shortbread."

Tasting note: Bright gold. Fairly soft nose-feel for near 60% ABV. Attractive grassy freshness, builds with aromas of ovaltine, dark chocolate, muesli bar and dried coconut. Remarkably balanced uncut; Young yet already wonderfully textural with a delicious malty core. Ovaltine again, right through to the crisp, tangy finish. A real malt-fest of a dram that's even better after extended air contact. You can see why blenders would love this. Quite entrancing. 221 bottles. Non chill filtered. 59.4% Alc./Vol.

"Spellbindingly rich & sweet... Just brilliant!" - Jim Murray.

Other reviews... Mannochmore has a bit of a split perception among blenders: some adore it, some won't touch it. Well, virtually all would be fighting to get their hands on it if all samples were as spellbindingly rich and sweet as this cask. Beautifully made and benefiting from a decade or so in a top Bourbon cask. The result is a honey-rich, spicy orgy of malt. Even boasting a cheeky hint of peat. Just brilliant. 94.5 points - Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2020
