Tasting note: Tullibardine Distillery made a triumphant return from its mothballed status in 2003. Gregor Hannah acquired this single Bourbon cask in 2013 and decided that the floral and oily nature of the distillate was perfectly suited to a rum cask finishing. Seven years on, the resulting deep gold tinted malt has developed aromas of barley sugar, hints of molasses cake, dried banana and dark chocolate - so quite some rum pick up. It's bold but balanced with the expected texture and flavour range, only more Bounty Bar and pineapple pudding, especially at the finish. What's so likeable about this is the balance of rum and distillery flavours. It's not overly sweet and the length is very good. The high ABV almost goes unnoticed. This really works. 55.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 218 bottles.

Notes from Gregor Hannah... On the Nose: Dessert notes of pineapple tart, custard creams and brown sugar sweetness. Floral notes of lilac and rose. On the Palate: Soft and gentle at first with developing sweet and spicy notes of white chocolate and cinnamon. Finish: Long and satisfying with a walnut whip and brandy cream character, with developing buttery toast.
