2006 Glendronach Single Cask No. 3359 Oloroso Puncheon Cask Strength 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: [15ml sample] Matured in an Oloroso sherry puncheon (the second largest casks used to mature sherries). Shellac, shoe polish and pepper hold the bouquet back. After 2-3 minutes the distillery character comes through as fruit'n'nut dark chocolate, raisins and a touch of orange pith freshness build on the nose. The palate is assertive, spicy, chewy and grippy through the middle stages, but better balanced with a little water. The finish crystalises the sugars. Fruit cake sweetness carries the aftertaste. 56.7% Alc./Vol. 652 bottles.
