Tasting note: This middle-aged Cardhu comes from a trial batch, double matured for much longer than the norm in ex-Amontillado sherry-seasoned hogsheads. Quite fruity for this distillery, the nose leans towards ripe plums, spiced pears, fruit'n'nut dark chocolate and even a touch of plantain. 2-3 minutes releases a strong vanilla note. It's fairly dry on entry before a juicy / fruity malt-forward attack, ending zesty and medium long with suggestions of oak spice, apple tart and dark chocolate. Great balance at 55% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Distilled in 2004, this expression was finished for 2 years in amontillado sherry-seasoned hogsheads. Soft and floral on the delicate nose, with vanilla ice cream and ripe pears. Smooth on the palate, with malt, milk chocolate, honey, nuts, and red apples. Drying in the spicy finish, with black coffee and light wood tannins. 89 points
