Pol Roger's vineyard ownership extends over the best terroirs of Champagne : Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne et d'Epernay and the Cotes des Blancs. The Vintage Blanc de Blancs is vinified 100% from Chardonnay grapes selected from Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote des Blancs: Cramant, Le Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Oiry, and is a clear definition of the 'BdB' style, often described as exhibiting "crystalline purity".

A magnificent Blanc de Blancs.

Pours with a good white creamy mousse, which once dissipated reveals a pale gold coloured base wine with an exceptionally fine and persistent bead. Aromatically the nose presents a classic Pol Roger sniff with intense aromas of yeast lees, baked bread and cashew bounding out of the glass followed by some more subtle citrus and toasty brioche like notes. Rich, mouthfilling and creamy in texture the palate delivers a complex flavour profile of toasty yeast lees and baked bread followed by some citrus, light almond and brioche that lingers long onto the aftertaste. Clean crisp finish with persistent toast, yeast lees, baked bread and cashew aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2013-2019).
Alc 12.50%

Other Reviews….
"...White flowers, lemon, slate and chamomile are some of the notes that burst from the glass... A bright, tightly coiled wine, the 2002 comes across as quite fresh and vibrant, especially within the context of the year. Sweet floral and minty notes run through the precise, crystalline finish. Although the 2002 is absolutely delicious today, I am intrigued to see how it might age. It is utterly brilliant today. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022."
