Drawing inspiration from a past political leader, on the 28th of August one of our most generous and adventurous whisky customers declared instore 'this is the tasting we have to have!' Without further ado the cork was removed, samples poured and examined, all staff on deck and customers instore were invited to participate.

Collectively, after the first sniff, swirl and spit, a sigh of relief seemed to be the consensus - the mystery malt is drinkable! Upon further examination the impromptu tasting panel unanimously decided that this is a delicious, youthful, bargain of a whisky. Needless to say, shelf stocks had vanished by the time word spread. More stocks were secured immediately, and are now again gracing the shelves - but for a limited time only, as only a tiny parcel of this bottling made it to our shores..

Tasting Notes:Very pale straw colour with slight greenish tinge, water like hue (young riesling). The nose is as promised by the label peaty, but not smoky. Fresh crisp apple, menthol and mint, slight hint of seaweed and salt above a delicate smoky background. Very oily, prickly palate at natural strength, a splash of water softens the blow and allows the intense flavours to blossom. Quite meaty and medicinal by nature, notes of menthol, olive, seaweed, lanolin and earth appear. The finish fantastic. A big booming encore of smoke, menthol and salt. Very long menthol & earth aftertaste. A fantastic young Islay whisky, that would appear to confirm the Caol Ila suspicions. Great value. 58.4% Alc./Vol.

Information about this whisky is virtually non existant. Apart from what's on the label! 2002 Peatbull Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky. One source suggests young Caol Ila, whilst other rumours imply Lagavuilin. Regardless, the price is right for a cask strength single malt. Only a handful of bottles to sell.
