Tasting note: From fresh charred American oak hogsheads, this brass-gold coloured whisky is a little vague in the first few passes, slowly gaining definition with semi-ripe apple, pear and citrus peel notes. Later, biscuity malt comes to the fore. The delivery has a crisp, spicy and mildly astringent feel, with some mid-palate prickle. It’s better with water, bringing out the distillery’s sought-after orchard fruit profile. 55% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews… Tangerines, ginger, and white pepper on the nose, with developing nutmeg. Big sweet fruit notes on the palate, with milk chocolate and caramel. Tangy citrus fruit and dark chocolate in the spicy, warming finish. (600 bottles for the U.S.) 89 points
