Tasting note: From a European oak refill Sherry butt. Polished topaz. Full on, heady Islay mix but with a profoundly earthy slant. Some tangible manure moments, as well as smoked chorizos, bbq char, old leather, cigar box and wine soaked tobacco. An intense, briny attack with baked citrus and sherried sweetness developing. Lanolin, light sulphur, char and pepper dominate the finish. Drying, mineral, wood smoke and trace iodine aftertaste. Muscular and super long. One of the most compelling and idiosyncratic Laphroaigs in years. Don't miss it. 60.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 560 bottled.
