1999 Leconfield Shiraz

Coonawarra, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$27. 99
Bottle
$335.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

This wine does not display any of the qualities that have come to be expected from Leconfield. Admittedly Ralph Fowler is gone, and Pip Treadwell is now winemaker, but none the less, she has had plenty of guidance and experience under Fowler to produce a great drop. This wine is a long way short of that.Medium body, brick red crimson colour. Aroma of earth, plum, spice, stewed fruit, cedar and truffle. The palate is the disappointment - the wine lacks length, complexity, fruit and concentration. Light peppery stewed fruit palate flavour. Fine grained soft tannins, with inky spice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
