ABV: 56.5%
We were enamored with Arran's early efforts which were defined by pristinely clean, sweet, unpeated malt. Like many others, Arran has diversified its portfolio since its inception, now offering a range of wood finishes, cask strength bottlings and even a peated whisky (it seems every distillery has to have at least one nowadays!) Their latest collection to land in Australia places Arran along side the likes of Springbank and Bruichladdich for sheer innovation and breadth.

Tasting note: Deep polished brass / gold appearance. Some low key fruitiness is evident ; kumquat mingling with the malt? Richens up after a few minutes becoming more marmalade-like in its density though the sweetness is restrained. A creamy entry leads into an orange-infused, dark chocolate extravaganza that’s a sheer delight. More dried fruits towards the finish which is momentarily bitter sweet. The fruit and nut chocolate theme returns. Jaffa-like aftertaste demonstrates solid persistence. 56.5% Alc./Vol.
